Fatal traffic collision on Chatsworth Street involving a motorcycle. 
On Saturday, July 2, 2011, at approximately 9:45 a.m., a severe traffic collision occurred in the community of Chatsworth, California. A red 2000 Ducati motorcycle was being ridden eastbound Chatsworth Street east of Lindley Ave by a thirty-year-old male resident of Northridge. At the same time Helen Heanue, an eighty-year-old resident of Northridge, driving a green 2002 Toyota Camry attempted to cross Chatsworth Street from a shopping center parking lot on the south side of Chatsworth Street to enter another driveway on the opposite side of the street. The motorcycle collided with the driver’s door area of the Toyota and the motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway. Both parties were transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the hospital and his name will not be released pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the Toyota remained hospitalized at the time of this investigation.
No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is being conducted by Valley Traffic Detectives.
Both drivers and pedestrians are reminded to use caution this Independence Day weekend and to always designate a sober driver. Officers will have zero tolerance for anyone driving under the influence.
