Homicide Investigation near Detroit Ave. And E. Third Ave.

San Mateo, CA – SMPD Officers responded today at about 1:30 pm to the area of All American Self Storage on E. Third Ave. on a report of a deceased person who was the victim of an apparent stabbing. The homicide protocol was enacted. Numerous SMPD Officers and Detectives have responded and are operating with the assistance of outside agencies to investigate this active homicide case.

Detectives have determined that this crime appears to be an isolated incident and that this does not appear to be a random act.

Due to the open and active nature of this investigation, there is no further information immediately available. SMPD will provide additional details when we are able via a Formal Press Release.

As of 4pm, a temporary Media Staging Area will be available on Detriot Ave. directly across the street from All American Self Storage. the address for All American Storage is 2000 E. Third Ave. (E. Third is also known as J. Hart Clinton Drive.)

The area of Detroit and E. Third Ave has been closed off and SMPD is advising community members to stay out of this area if possible while this investigation is conducted.
