Who: Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Identity Theft Task Force, Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers and Shred-itTM .
What: Identity theft is the fastest growing form of consumer fraud in North America. Residents can protect themselves by regularly destroying confidential and personal documents rather than disposing of them in non-secure places such as garbage bins. The Community Shred-itTM is a community outreach event designed to heighten public awareness about identity theft, while providing residents with an opportunity to destroy documents containing personal identifying information. There will be no charge for shredding documents; however, donations will be collected for March of Dimes, The Home Depot Center Charitable Foundation, 999 For Kids, Sheriff’s Youth Foundation, Carson Sheriff’s Station Support Foundation (CSSSF), and Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers.
When: Saturday, June 11, 2011, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
