There has been a rash of night time car burglaries in the Somerset County/Hunterdon County area. Up to 100 thefts from vehicles have been reported in Branchburg, Bridgewater, Hillsborough and Readington Townships. So far 8 thefts are in Readington. EVERY theft has been from an unlocked vehicle. LOCKED VEHICLES IN THE SAME DRIVEWAY OR NEIGHBORHOOD HAVE BEEN IGNORED. Thieves are targeting electronics, specifically GPS units and cash.

Be alert for suspicious vehicles and persons on foot during the night time hours. Most thefts have occurred between 10pm and 6am. Report any suspicious activity to the Readington Township Polie Department (908-534-40341). If you witness an active burglary please call 911 and stay on the line with the dispatcher.

Readington Township Detectives are actively working to identify the suspects and are confident, with the help of the public, that these crimes will be solved.
