Newark- The Delaware State Police arrested a 24 year old Bear, DE woman for driving under the influence of alcohol after she caused a three vehicle personal injury crash yesterday evening in Newark.

The incident began occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, as Jessica L. Eller, 24, was operating a Nissan Murano and was traveling in the right hand lane of DE Rt. 273 eastbound approaching Salem Church Road in Newark. For an unknown reason, Eller’s vehicle left the south edge of Rt. 273 and struck a utility pole. Her vehicle continued traveling through the grass and then entered onto Salem Church Road, where it struck a 1999 Mazda Protégé that was being operated by Hector Perez, and which was stopped in the left hand lane of northbound Salem Church Road. The force of the collision caused the Mazda to then strike a 2006 Dodge Dakota that was being operated by Mark Spitelle and which had been stopped in traffic in the right hand lane of northbound Salem Church Road. Eller’s vehicle then became airborne and flipped in the air several times before coming to rest on its right hand side.

Hector Perez, Mark Spitelle, and Jessica Eller were all transported by EMS where they were treated for their injuries. Jessica Eller was subsequently cited for the above list of charges.
