Distraction Burglars update: I have been made aware of a third Distraction Burglary committed by two female burglars in the Encino-Sherman Oaks-Van Nuys area. They use a ruse to get into the homes of elderly persons – the pregnant female knocks on the door and requests help with a broken down vehicle. They steal cash and jewelry. Both of these criminals are about 20 to 25 years old. One is heavy set, the other pregnant. They are described as being Hispanic or Middle Eastern, and one time they spoke a foreign language between themselves which was not Spanish. In one case they incorporated an infant they called “Star” as part of their ruse. Please be sure that elderly neighbors know about these criminals and the way they operate.
