On April 18, 2011, at 5:45 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop at Golden Valley Road and Robert C Lee Parkway, Canyon Country. A mother and her two children, 14 and 11 were in the car. During a search deputies found that the 14-year-old boy had six bags of heroin concealed in the groin area of his pants. His mother, the driver of the car admitted that she had him put the drugs in his pants to conceal it. Although she told a good tale of being a single mother with four children and only transporting the drugs this one time to pay the rent, deputies found evidence that she had been selling drugs.

Deputies arrested her for possession of heroin for sales, transporting heroin, child endangerment, and inducing a minor to transport heroin. She and her two children were transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. Suspect Beatriz Flores F/31, of Lake Los Angeles, was booked for the listed charges. During booking, methamphetamine was also found hidden in Flores' clothing. She was additionally charged with possession of methamphetamine for sales, transportation of methamphetamine, and bringing drugs into a jail.

Flores' two children were released to the Los Angeles County Department of Children's Services for protection. An additional investigation into the welfare of the other two children will be conducted.

Flores is being held in the Santa Clarita Valley Station jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
