Changes at the Recycle Center beginning Thursday April 14. See email for full details.

The City of Athens Public Works announces changes at the recycle center beginning Thursday, April 14, 2011. The recycle center will start using single stream containers to collect recycle material. The next time you visit the recycle center you will be able to place mixed paper, mixed plastic, glass, and tin cans in one container. The containers will be labeled with flyers to show what is accepted and instructions. This will make recycling more convenient in your homes and when you visit the recycle center because there will not be the need to separate everything. It will be a quick visit, just dump and go. Cardboard, aluminum cans, electronics, used motor oil, and used cooking oil will be the only items that residents and businesses will need to separate at the recycle center. The recycle center will be slightly rearranged to accommodate for the bins. The next time you visit the recycle center please take a few moments to read the flyers and familiarize yourself with new bin locations. The recycle center hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
