On Thursday, March 24, 2011, at 5:55AM, a traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Valley View Avenue and Adoree Street, in the city of La Mirada. The collision resulted in the death of an elderly man. Norwalk Sheriff's Station deputies are seeking the public's help in finding the hit and run suspect.

Jingyu Park, a 90-year old man, was attempting to walk across the intersection westbound in an unmarked crosswalk, when he was struck by a silver Honda Accord, and knocked to the ground in the # 1 northbound lane.

The driver of the Honda Accord was turning around to return to the intersection when a second vehicle, a blue Toyota Camry, which was driving northbound in the #1 lane at 35-40 mph, apparently failed to see the pedestrian laying in the roadway and struck him a second time. The blue Toyota Camry dragged him about 250 feet before he was dislodged north of the first collision.

Mr. Park died as a result of his injuries.

After the collision, the Toyota Camry continued northbound on Valley View Avenue and turned left onto westbound Imperial Highway. The driver of the blue Toyota Camry failed to stop and identify himself.

During our investigation, we identified the suspect vehicle as a blue Toyota Camry, 2007 or later model, which may have moderate damage to the front bumper area. Most importantly, a piece of the front grille was found at the scene. There are hand-written numbers and letters found along the edge of this grille piece. These numbers and letters were most likely written on this part at an auto parts salvage business. (SEE PHOTO at the bottom of this message)

Have you seen this car or do you know anything about this writing?

We also need help identifying a possible witness that entered the “Yum Yum Donuts”, which is in the shopping center adjacent to the scene of this collision. This male entered the donut shop and told an employee that he saw the entire collision. Investigators would very much like to talk to this witness.

If you have any information about either the blue Toyota Camry or know who may have witnessed the above collision, please contact Detective Carl Anna, Norwalk Sheriff's Station, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, at (562) 863-8711 or e-mail him at [email protected], or call the Norwalk Sheriff’s Station Watch Commander at (562)863-8711.

Or if you wish to remain anonymous please call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477), texting the letters TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES (274637), or using the website http://lacrimestoppers.org

The driver of the Accord remained at the scene and cooperated with deputies.
