NYS law prohibits posters/stickers on car windshields/rear windows; please avoid this hazard to drivers/pedestrians

The New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law, Section 375, prohibits placing posters or stickers, other than those required by law, on the windshields or rear windows of vehicles. Unfortunately, residents occasionally post signs in the rear windows of their vehicles, often to advertise an upcoming community event. Although the goal is typically to promote a worthy cause, blocking a driver's view is illegal and dangerous; that poster or collection of stickers can block a driver's view just enough to prevent him or her from seeing a vehicle, bicycle, or pedestrian, especially when backing up, with potentially tragic consequences.

Please keep your car windows clear for the safety of the driving and walking public. Thank you.
