**HMPD** has an important message for the community!

Vehicle break-ins have been reported to the Hope Mills Police Department in the Eaglewood area.

Residents should ensure that vehicle windows are up, doors are locked and that they do not leave valuable items in their vehicles overnight such as GPS systems, IPODs/MP3 players, purses, wallets, etc. Residents should also leave their outdoor lighting on overnight or, at the very least, leave garage/driveway lighting on throughout the evening.

Residents are also urged to contact the Hope Mills Police Department immediately at 910-425-4103 or 911 if they observe any suspicious persons, or activity within their neighborhood.

If you actually witness a break-in occurring, DO NOT attempt to make contact with the suspects. Rather, you should obtain as much information as you can regarding the number of suspects, clothing descriptions, race/sex, vehicle information etc. Call 911 immediately and try and maintain a visual observation of the suspects from inside your residence. It is also important that you stay on the phone with the 911 operator until Officers arrive in the area. Providing timely, updated, and accurate information to Officers as they respond to the scene is the most important assistance you can provide to help us do our job more effectively.
