A winter weather advisory for snow and mixed precipitation remains in effect from 7 pm this evening to 10 am cdt Monday.
Location, extreme eastern Kansas through west central Missouri, including the greater Kansas city area, plattsburg and st. Joseph, eastward to richmond and carrollton.
Timing, showers will gradually become mixed with sleet and snow this evening, and then change over to all snow from west to east overnight.
Snow, once the changeover to snow occurs, it may be heavy at times during the late evening and early morning hours. Generally 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected to fall by late Monday morning, with locally higher amounts possible.
Impacts, snow may be heavy at times overnight, restricting visibilities to a half mile or less, although winds should generally be light at less than 10 mph. Periods of heavy snow may accumulate several inches of a slushy wet snow which will make travel hazardous.
Other impacts, the Monday morning commute in and around the Kansas city metropolitan area could become treacherous due to the heavy wet snow. Allow extra time to as accidents will likely cause significant slow downs in traffic flow.
