On Wednesday, March 9th, 2011 at 12:07AM, PBP Narcotics Detectives (plainclothes) were patrolling in the area of the 7700 block of Bennett Street when they heard shots fired and observed a b/m firing a weapon. One of the detectives exited the vehicle to investigate the shooting while his partner circled around in the event that the actor took off running. While approaching the actor the detective on foot encountered a b/m later identified as ANTHONY THOMAS SCOTT, 24yo from Verona, PA, still discharging his firearm in the direction of Hale Street.

At this time it was unknown to detectives who the actor was firing his weapon at. The detective on foot identified himself as a police officer and repeatedly ordered SCOTT to drop his weapon. At this time the actor turned toward the detective and fired at him at which time an exchange of gunfire ensued. The actor was struck multiple times. Neither detective sustained injury.

SCOTT was transported to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in stable condition.

Both detectives are veteran officers each with over 16 years of service and both have been placed on paid Administrative Leave. PBP Homicide is investigating the incident with oversight from the DA’s Office. Any one with information regarding this incident is asked to contact PBP Homicide at 412-323-7161.
