The Waushara County Sheriff’s Office has identified Sidney Dhein, age 61 as a person of interest

Authorities seek suspect in Portage, Wood counties
Waushara County law enforcement officials believe a person of interest wanted in connection with an October assault may be living in Stevens Point, Plover or Wisconsin Rapids.
The Waushara County Sheriff’s Office has identified Sidney Dhein, 61, as a person of interest in the incident and is looking for assistance in locating him. He has reportedly been seen in the three municipalities in the company of an unknown blonde female, according to a release from the Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities identified Dhein based on a sketch created from the victim’s recollections, and several pieces of evidence analyzed by the Department of Justice Crime Lab. They also believe the suspect either lived in the area of was familiar with that part of rural Waushara County.
Dhein previously resided in Waushara County, but has not been seen in the area since the assault.
The hunter was assaulted on Oct. 18, 2010 on property he had leased in the town of Oasis in Waushara County, near the border with Portage County. The suspect left the area on foot and no vehicle has been connected with the assault, according to the release.
Do not attempt to apprehend this person, but notify local law enforcement, Waushara County Sheriff's Office at 920-787-3321 or Crimestoppers at 800-800-5219. Crimestoppers is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual that committed this assault.
