Athens PW announces Clean Up Week 4/11/11 7:00AM thru 4/15/11 3:30pm. See email for details.

Once again it is time for the annual Clean Up Week here in the City of Athens. This year’s Clean Up Week is scheduled for the week of April 11 - 15, 2011.

Please have all items curbside (within 3 to 5 feet from edge of road) on or BEFORE April 11, 2011 at 7:00 a.m. DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING IN THE ROAD.

The Public Works Department will pick up the items sometime during that week. There is no certain schedule for any street or any specific days. However, all city streets will be covered at least once during this week.

Please keep in mind Clean Up Week pick-ups are separate from Residential Garbage pick-ups and will not necessarily be picked up the same day.

During this week, the City of Athens Public Works Department will NOT have pride cars placed at city schools as in the past. These pride cars have typically been used inappropriately in prior years. Items for pick up must be placed curbside at the residents’ homes.

Pride cars will not be scheduled for individual use the week of Clean Up Week since they will be used by clean up crews. However, we will resume scheduling pride cars again for April 26, 2010 and after.
