The Arlington Police Department is investigating an assault that hospitalized a woman and resulted in the death of a man at a North Arlington church. Arlington Police Officers were dispatched at about 4:15 p.m. to the 2000 block of Brown Boulevard on Thursday, March 3, 2011, in response to a reported assault. Officers arrived and discovered two employees inside NorthPointe Baptist Church. A man in his late 20s was dead at the scene. A woman, who is in her 60s, was seriously injured and driven by ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

A vehicle belonging to the woman was missing from the location, leading investigators to believe that a suspect or suspects could have taken that vehicle. The car is described as a 2007 off-white, four-door Mitsubishi Galant with license plate- DFR 352. Investigators ask that anyone who sees this vehicle to call 911 and not try to confront a driver or passenger. That person could be a suspect in this case, and could be armed and dangerous.

Police were first notified of this incident after a family member of a church employee was unable to reach that employee. A friend was asked to go by the church this afternoon to conduct a welfare check. Upon arrival, he found the church locked and began walking around the building looking in windows. He saw a person on the floor not moving and called 911. Officers arrived a short time later, made entry into the building, and found the two victims.
