A Severe Weather Spotter Training Course (Storm Spotter Class) will be held Tuesday, March 8th 2011 from 6 to 9 pm. The location will be at the Lincoln High School Cafeteria, 205 East Parkway Drive, Cambridge City, IN 47327. This training will be presented by staff meteorologists from the Wilmington Weather Forecast Office of the National Weather Service. The training is free of charge and open to the public.
Severe weather seems to be an increasing part of our lives. During weather events like severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, flooding and snow storms, trained spotters are the eyes and ears of the National Weather Service helping to identify, verify and report significant weather and speeding the issue of needed weather warnings. Spotters help save lives. Citizens, amateur radio operators and members of emergency services are often in the best position to observe and report threatening weather conditions as they develop. This course will help you to confidently identify and report severe weather observations and events.
