HILL DISTRICT SCUFFLE WITH POLICE – TWO ARRESTED

On Tuesday, February 15 th , 2011 at 3:43PM Zone 2 Officers initiated a traffic stop in the 100 block of Oak Hill Drive. Three males were observed in the vehicle. Zone 2 plainclothes officers arrived as back up. The rear passenger, due to his suspicious behavior, was asked to step from the vehicle and consented to a search. The actor then charged one plainclothes officer and head butted him and assaulted a second officer by punching him in the right eye.

Responding officers rustled the actor to the ground where he continued to resist arrest and was tased. Both Officers were transported by medics to a local hospital for treatment. One officer sustained an injured foot and corneal contusion of the eye and the other officer sustained an injured jaw/face and knee. The officers are 10 and 6 year veterans of the Bureau. The actor, identified as CURTIS LYMAN , 33yo from the E. Liberty area was transported to Zone 2 Station where medics checked him. He was later transported to AGH to be medically cleared for his taser exposure which is procedural.

LYMAN will be transported to the ACJ and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Resisting Arrest, Escape, and Possession of Crack Cocaine with the Intent to Deliver, Possession of Crack Cocaine and Tampering with Evidence. Crack cocaine was recovered. A female on scene identified as DOLORES AUSTIN, 54yo , interfered with officers arresting LYMAN and was also placed under arrest for Obstruction of Justice and transported to the ACJ without further incident. The driver and front seat passenger remained in the vehicle, were cooperative with police during the entire incident and were released at the scene. Further investigation into this incident will be handled by Zone 2 detectives.
