**Winter Storm Warning in effect for Garland thru 6:00pm** Ice is expected on roadways making driving hazardous.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Garland thru 6:00pm.

Sleet has begun to fall in Garland at this time and ice is expected to form on roadways making driving hazardous.

As the system continues to move through the area, the precipitation will turn to snow. The National Weather Service says that Garland can expect 1-2" of accumulation with this system.

Temperatures are not expected to rise above freezing today, so caution should be exercised even after the storm system passes through.

The winds are also very high and the current wind chill factor is 5 degrees currently. Be sure to take proper precautions if you have to go outside.

Frozen pipes are possible when the temperatures drop; be sure to drip your faucets.
