ARSON ARREST
One individual has been arrested and charged with an arson related offense, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.
“Danielle Joslyn Raley, 26, of East Gadsden, has been charged with one count of first degree arson and three counts of attempted murder,” states Investigator Jeremy Walker. “Each charge carries a cash bond of $50,000, for a total of $200,000.”
The incident took place on January 31, 2011 at the suspect’s residence on Croft Ferry Road. The fire began inside the house when a set of curtains where lit with a match.
Raley’s husband, an Etowah County Sheriff’s Office deputy, and two children were in the residence at the time of the fire.
Raley was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center on Monday, February 7, 2011, after confessing to investigators she set the fire.
“It is sad that a mother would put her husband and children in danger, no matter the circumstance,” says Sheriff Entrekin.
The incident was investigated by the Etowah County Arson Task Force and Etowah County Sheriff’s Office.
“We are pleased that this case was solved quickly and without injury to any individual,” states Deputy State Fire Marshal Ray Cumby. “The cooperation between agencies involved in the Arson Task Force has proved beneficial to all. We will continue to prosecute anyone who is involved in setting arsons and putting other lives at risk.”
“This case will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” states Sheriff Entrekin. “We have seen the outcome of cases in the past where it has resulted in death, no matter who the suspect is related to or associated with. We look forward to justice being carried out in this case.”
Raley is currently being detained in the Etowah County Detention Center.
