Alert

The Palos Heights Police Dept wants to inform you of a Blizzard Warning issued from 3PM on 02/01/11 to 3PM 02/02/11.

The National Weather Service issued a Blizzard Warning for Cook County from 3PM on 02/01/11 until 3PM on 02/02/11.

This is a notification from the Palos Heights Palos Department to inform residents about the forecasted winter storm and urge residents to take the proper precautions they deem necessary.

The Palos Heights Police Department would like to remind residents not to park any vehicles in the street, as they would impede snow removal efforts. We would also like to remind residents not to push or blow snow into the street.

There will be no garbage removal on Wednesday, February 2, 2011, due to the winter storm, and will be handled the same way as during a holiday, in which garbage removal will be pushed back a day. Normal garbage removal will resume on Monday, February 7, 2011.
We would also like to inform you that starting today, at 5:00PM, the American Red Cross will open and maintain an emergency shelter at Shepard High School, located at 13049 S Ridgeland Ave, Palos Heights. The shelter can be used for stranded motorists or others affected by the storm, where they will be provided with a warm and safe place to stay.

Additional information can be obtained by viewing Channel 4 or by visiting the City’s website, www.palosheights.org and additional storm preparedness tips can be viewed on the American Red Cross website, www.redcross.org
