Blizzard Warning for SW Michigan; up to 16" + drifting expected for Kalamazoo. Avoid driving. Storm expected by eve.

The National Weather Service is monitoring a storm expected to produce up to 16 inches of snow in our area. Winds will increase over the southwest corner of the state after 6 PM to 20-30 mph, creating blowing snow, blinding conditions, and large snow drifts.

Per the NWS, this is an extremely dangerous storm. Preparations need to be completed by early this evening. This will be the heaviest snow southwest MI has seen in several years.

Avoid driving during the storm and during the cleanup afterward unless it is an emergency. Low visibility and deep drifts will make driving dangerous and accidents likely. If you do need to drive, pack extra food, water, blankets, and clothing.

For additional updates on the storm, stay tuned to the National Weather Service and your local news stations.
