CVS Pharmacy on the 500 block of Brookline Blvd, Robber Apprehended

CVS Pharmacy Robber Apprehended

PITTSBURGH: On January 25th, 2011 at 5:25PM. Zone 6 Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Brookline Blvd for the report of a business robbery in progress. While Units were enroute dispatch updated Units with the following description of a w/m, 6’2” leaving the store wearing a brown coat and carrying an opened umbrella which concealed his face. The actor was last seen entering a blue Cutlass Station Wagon bearing PA
registration FTF-5351 heading East on Brookline Blvd.

Officers arrived at the scene and spoke with a witness (pharmacist). The witness reported that the actor approached the Pharmacy counter and indicted that he needed Valium and Oxycotin. The witness (pharmacist) asked for a prescription and noticed the black ski-
mask worn by the actor. It was reported that the actor reached inside his brown hooded jacket and pulled out a revolver. The witness (pharmacist) complied with the actors demands giving him a bottle of Oxycotin (70 pills). The male turned and walked toward the front of the store. It was also reported that the actor spoke with a shaky voice but never pointed the gun in the direction of customers or employees.

Other witnesses/customers in the store observed the Pharmacy being robbed and followed the actor from the store observing him getting into the blue Oldsmobile station wagon and drive Eastbound on Brookline Blvd. The license was recorded and provided to 911 Dispatch. Zone 3 Officers stopped the suspect vehicle and detained the driver. The witness was transported to the scene and made a positive identification of the actor.

The actor identified as Thomas DANIELS, w/m, 60yo from Pittsburgh 15210 was arrested and transported to Police Headquarters to be interviewed and transported to the ACJ facing the following charges: one (1) count each Robbery, Firearms not to be Carried without a License; Resisting Arrest or other Law Enforcement; Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police Officer; Possession of a Controlled Substance; Person Not to Possess Use
Manuf. Control Firearm.

Both Zone 3 and Zone 6 Officers worked together in this apprehension.
