Tustin Police Department seeks resident’s help to report copper wire theft.

Since August 2010 Tustin has had several copper wire thefts with losses exceeding $15,000. All of Tustin’s recent incidents have been in parks, but copper wire thieves are also drawn to constructions sites, street lights, vacant houses, and lots.

If you see a suspicious individual standing next to street lights or are a witness to the theft of copper wire, please contact the Tustin Police Department immediately.

Signs of possible copper wire thefts include:

• Subjects working near light standards. These subjects may be appear to be part of a work crew, wear orange vests or have work truck parked nearby with traffic cones set out

• A number of street lights are out in a row

• The concrete service box lids at or near each light pole are missing, open or broken

• If tools or equipment are left near the street lights
