The Fremont Police Department celebrates our first 2,000 NIXLE followers

The Fremont Police Department is excited to announce that we have reached more than 2,000 NIXLE followers! We have watched the number of followers grow over the last couple of months and are excited to have reached this point. Our highest spike was shortly after the shooting of Officer Todd Young, when our numbers literally doubled over night. We hope to continue expanding our use of NIXLE over time but need your help in continuing to get the word out. By sharing the information you receive, you’re spreading the word and the value of this communication tool. Thank you for your continued support!

Other ways to stay connected with the City of Fremont

You can stay connected with the City of Fremont by enrolling in the City of Fremont’s Community Alert System, registering to receive eNews subscriptions and/or by following the City on Twitter.

City of Fremont’s New Community Alert System:

The City of Fremont has a Community Alert System, CodeRED®, which is provided by Emergency Communications Network. The Community Alert System is a high-speed notification system that gives City officials the ability to deliver pre-recorded emergency alerts and non-emergency notifications to targeted geographic areas or the entire city. You can enroll additional information to receive notifications by email, SMS (text), and cell or work numbers.

The City will use the Community Alert System to notify homes and businesses of situations that pose imminent threat to life or health, such as evacuations, hazardous materials releases or spills, barricaded criminal suspects, and floods and fires in an immediate area. The City also plans to use the system for non-emergency, time-sensitive information, such as road closures, scheduled major maintenance work, planned traffic impacts, missing persons, criminal descriptions, and City events.

Signing up for Fremont’s Community Alert System is simple and free. The first step is to log on to www.Fremont.gov/CommunityAlert, and follow the links to enroll land-line telephone numbers, cell numbers, text, e-mail, or all of them. Please note that standard text messaging charges apply. Enrollment in this system is necessary because the City only has access to the 911 database, which consists of primary residential and business land-line telephone numbers. The data collected will only be used for community alerts and notifications.

eNews Subscriptions on City Website:

Through the City’s eNews Subscriptions on our website, you can opt-in and subscribe to any number of e-mail lists and then automatically be notified of updates in your chosen categories, such as City department news and events, Council Agendas and Minutes, Boards and Commissions, press releases, and volunteer opportunities. For more information log on to www.Fremont.gov/eNews.
