Arrests Made in Santa Clarita Craig's List Robbery. N.HWD & Canyon Country suspects. 1 susp. sought by LASD SCV.

Two people recently drove from Hollywood to Santa Clarita to buy a camera they had seen on Craig's List for a great price. When they arrived, they were robbed by three suspects wearing ski masks. Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station (LASD) deputies worked closely with North Hollywood Division (LAPD) police officers and have arrested one man and one woman. When a search warrant was served at the home of one of the suspects, a marijuana cultivation operation was discovered by deputies.

At least one suspect is believed to be at large and is being sought by detectives.

Detectives from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station Robbery and Assault Team have been investigating a robbery that occurred on Saturday, November 20, 2010.

On that date, deputies were called to the 19200 block of Golden Valley Road, Canyon Country, where two individuals reported they had just been robbed.

The victims said they drove to Santa Clarita from the Hollywood area to meet with a prospective seller of a camera they found listed at an unbelievable price on Craig's List. When the victims arrived to meet the "seller" they were confronted by at least three suspects who blocked-in their vehicle and proceeded to take all their personal belongings, including the cash they had brought to purchase the camera and their cell phones. The suspects, who wore ski masks, fled in a black BMW with no license plates.

During the thorough investigation that followed, Santa Clarita Sheriff's detectives were able to unravel a tangled web of electronic communications and identify a potential suspect. They also determined that at least one other similar case had occurred in the jurisdiction of the Los Angeles Police Department in the North Hollywood area.

Santa Clarita detectives worked in direct partnership with the Los Angeles Police Department sharing the information obtained. In the coming days the LAPD located the vehicle used in the crime. The first suspect, Talin Shahin, FW/25 of North Hollywood, was detained and the cell phones that were taken in the Santa Clarita robbery were recovered in the vehicle.

On Friday, December 3, 2010, Santa Clarita detectives arrested Shahin at the LAPD North Hollywood Community Police Station when she came in to retrieve some property. She was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on felony robbery charges.

Further investigation led to the identification of a second suspect, Aram Damirjian, MW/27, of Canyon Country. Santa Clarita Sheriff’s detectives arrested him at the San Fernando Superior Court on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 just after he appeared on an unrelated marijuana case.

Santa Clarita detectives conducted a search warrant operation at Damirjian's residence in the 28200 block of Winterdale Drive, Canyon Country, and uncovered more than just evidence of a robbery. At the house deputies found a substantial marijuana cultivation operation consisting of more than 90 marijuana plants inside the garage.

Damirjian was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on felony robbery charges. Drug cultivation charges are also pending.

Damirjian later posted bond and was released pending a future court proceedings.

Shahin is being held without bail at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Century Regional Detention Facility and is due in court on December 30, 2010.

Detectives believe there is one more male suspect involved in the crime who has not yet been identified. There is no further information available at this time (ref. 18925 ).
