At 4:01PM Friday, the Metro Red Line subway North Hollywood passenger station was evacuated due to a suspicious package. Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau deputies called the Sheriff’s Arson/Explosives unit to the scene to investigate and evacuated the passenger station as a safety precaution. Sheriff’s Arson/Explosives detectives arrived at about 4:30PM and began their investigation.

The Red Line subway continued normal operations throughout the rest of the Red Line, but temporarily stopped and started no further than Universal Station. Metro officials operated a “bus bridge” at the Universal Station, and transported Red Line subway passengers by bus from Universal Station to North Hollywood Station, and from North Hollywood station and Universal Station.

At 5:15PM, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Arson/Explosives detectives determined that the package contained personal possessions and cleared the passenger station to resume normal operations.
