Chester Boulevard Traffic To Be Rerouted Saturday from east side to west side - Milling and paving next week
The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to reroute traffic from the east side of U.S. Highway 27 to west-side lanes tomorrow (NOVEMBER 13). Milestone, the state’s contractor, should complete asphalt paving on the west-side lanes of Chester Boulevard later today. Temporary pavement markings will be painted tomorrow prior to switching the traffic pattern.
On Monday, crews are scheduled to begin milling off existing pavement along east-side lanes. Weather permitting, new asphalt can be placed at the end of next week. This would allow the entire U.S. 27 construction site—from Sim Hodgin to a north terminus south of the Interstate 70 interchange—to be opened to 4-lane traffic during the week of November 22.
Milestone will continue construction of curbs, sidewalks and drive approaches before demobilizing for a winter hiatus.
INDOT’s $12.2 million Major Moves project on U.S. 27 at Richmond is widening Chester Boulevard to include a continuous left turn lane. Work includes a new storm sewer trunkline, curbs, gutters and ADA-compliant sidewalks.
