... Coastal Flood Advisory In Effect From 6 PM To 10 PM EDT This Evening...

The National Weather Service In Charleston Has Issued A Coastal Flood Advisory... Which Is In Effect From 6 PM To 10 PM EDT This Evening.

High Astronomical Spring Tides Will Produce Elevated Tides Across All Of South Coastal South Carolina And North Coastal Georgia Tonight. Tide Levels Are Expected To Peak Between 7.2 And 7.4 Ft Mean Lower Low Water In The Charleston Harbor And 9.2 To 9.4 Ft Mean Lower Low Water At The Savannah River Entrance This Evenings High Tide. These Levels Will Produce Shallow Coastal Flooding In Many Areas Along And Near The Coast. The Most Significant Salt Water Flooding Will Occur In The Downtown Charleston Area Where The Usual Flood Prone Areas Will Likely See Significant Standing Water. Water May Also Approach Or Surround Homes Along Drake Street As Well As America And Aiken Streets. Near Tybee Island... Water May Approach Or Flood Portions Of Highway 80.

High Tide Will Occur In The Charleston Harbor Around 735 PM... Around 851 PM In The Beaufort River At Beaufort And 742 PM At The Savannah River Entrance.



A Coastal Flood Advisory Indicates That Winds And Tides Will Combine To Generate Some Salt Water Flooding Of Low-Lying Areas Near The Coast. Shallow Coastal Flooding Begins Along The Southern South Carolina Coast When Tides In The Charleston Harbor Reach 7.0 Feet Mean Lower Low Water And Along The Northern Georgia Coast When Tides Reach 9.2 Feet Mean Lower Low Water At Fort Pulaski.
