Hollister Police Arrest Two Residential Burglary Suspects

HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA – October 15, 2010 – On October 14, 2010 Hollister police arrested two suspects following a report of a residential burglary in progress.

At about 9:30 a.m., a caller reported seeing 3 suspects jumping a fence to the rear of a residence in the 00 block of Park Street, providing a description of the suspects. Sergeant Don Magnuson, who was the initial responding officer, found the rear window of the residence open and the window screen lying on the ground beneath it. As all other Hollister police officers were
involved in other calls for service, Sergeant Magnuson asked for San Benito County deputy sheriffs to help by positioning themselves around the residence. As they were doing so, Sergeant Magnuson saw a man matching the description of one of the suspects attempting to leave the area. Sergeant Magnuson detained the man, who was later identified by the witness as one of the
suspects.

While conducting an area check for further evidence in this case, Sergeant Magnuson came upon the two other suspects, who were in the front yard of a residence in the 1100 block of Sally Street. Sergeant Magnuson was able to capture one while the other fled. The witness also identified this suspect as one of the three involved.

The first suspect is identified as 18-year-old Jesse Serna, of Hollister. He was booked into the San Benito County Jail, charged with Burglary, Possession of Stolen Property and Conspiracy. His bail was set at $70,000.

The second suspect, a 16-year-old male, was booked into San Benito County Juvenile Hall, charged with Burglary and Conspiracy.

The third suspect is still outstanding, and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information regarding this incident is requested to contact the Hollister Police Department at 636-4330.
