After a search by K-9 and area departments, a 26 YOA parole absconder was arrested in downtown Gregory.


On Wednesday at about 9:07 am a Unadilla Township officer observed a parole absconder in the downtown business district of Gregory. When ordered to stop, the man fled on foot behind some businesses and ran in to a swampy wooded area to the west of Main St. Unadilla Police requested officers from Pinckney, Stockbridge and Waterloo Police Departments as well as deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff Department to set up a perimeter. At about 10:20 am, a K-9 team from the Livingston County Sheriff Department apprehended the fugitive. The man sustained a back injury while attempting to elude police and was transported to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for medical treatment. The suspect was identified as a 26-year-old Pinckney man wanted on a parole absconder warrant as well as a warrant for receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle from the Pinckney Police Department. According to Unadilla Township Police, police are seeking charges for resisting and obstructing a police officer as well as possession of heroin. The man is scheduled to be incarcerated at the Livingston County Jail pending his release from St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.
