The incident occurred yesterday evening at approximately 7:25 p.m. as 29 year old Haydee Martinez and 40 year old Kenyatta Brooks of New Castle were inside of the Target Store located at 1050 Brandywine Parkway in Wilmington. A store employee observed Martinez and Brooks removing razor blades and baby formula from display and concealing them in bags that they had inside of a shopping cart. The pair then attempted to leave the store without paying for the items but were stopped by a store employee. Martinez then attempted to flee from the store but was detained by the employee. She then began struggling with the employee in attempt to break free. A responding trooper also attempted to restrain Martinez and it was not until he deployed his departmentally issued taser on her that she stopped struggling.
