On Wednesday morning, (09/01/10) at approximately 3:30AM, Lancaster Sheriff's Station deputies responded to the 200 block of East Avenue K-8, Lancaster, regarding a burglary just occurred call.

When deputies arrived they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound outside the business which is located in an industrial area of Lancaster. He was transported to a local hospital where he was initially listed in extremely critical condition.

Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives responded to the scene and after their initial investigation learned that at least two men broke into the store and were confronted inside by the owner.

The owner fired a handgun at the suspects, hitting one and possibly wounding the second.

The hospitalized suspect was pronounced dead at 4:30PM today. He has been identified as 28-year-old Robert Summers of Lancaster. Property from the business was recovered from Summers. No additional suspects have yet been located.
