S Lingle Ave at the Rt 422 intersection at the Palmyra-Derry Township border is expected to reopen in mid September.

South Lingle Avenue at the Route 422 intersection at the Palmyra-Derry Township border is expected to reopen in mid to late September, the state Department of Transportation has announced. The road was closed April 12 from Route 422 to Miller Avenue for widening of the Lingle Avenue-Route 422 intersection. Work will shift to North Lingle Avenue next year, which will require closing that section of the road, and will include some night work to resurface Route 422.
Work will continue on South Lingle Avenue through fall as sidewalks, curbing and drainage pipes continue to be installed, but daytime traffic should not be affected.
When the project is finished by November 2011 it will provide left turn lanes for traffic in all four directions at the intersection, through which about 25,230 vehicles travel daily. The construction is costing about $2.6 million, and the entire project, including acquiring land and design, about $7.6 million.
