**WINTER STORM ALERT** Wednesday and Thursday

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque would like to provide you an overview (leading up to this afternoon's conference call) on the upcoming storm system set to impact New Mexico Wednesday into Thursday.

A storm system will gather energy over the Rockies today and move across central and northern New Mexico Wednesday and Thursday. The storm will provide a variety of hazardous weather impacts to the state as follows...

Northern Mountains: A Winter Storm Watch has been posted for much of the northern mountains beginning at midnight Wednesday morning. Significant snowfall accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are possible with totals up to
12 inches over the San Juan and Northern Sangre De Cristo Mountains.

A weather watch indicates the potential for severe or damaging weather conditions.
