On August 12, 2010, a residence on Leiby Lane in Maxatawny Township was burglarized. This burglary occurred during daylight hours. The victim reported that numerous electronic items were taken along with jewelery. The homeowner was not home at the time of the burglary.

In the past, there have been several time periods where Maxatawny burglaries have occurred in groups. At this time, this is not the case, however, we have been advised by a neighboring police department that a surrounding township in Berks County has had several residential burglaries recently.

Do your part to make sure you and your neighbors do not become victims. Make sure your home is locked at all times. If your home has an alarm system, make sure it is fully functional. Talk to your neighbors, and spread the word of this burglary. Encourage others to receive Nixle alerts. Lastly, contact police if suspicious persons/ vehicles are observed.
