Two men died after being shot Thursday evening. Detectives are asking for the public’s help to provide tips.

POLICE INVESTIGATE DOUBLE HOMICIDE

Modesto, CA – Two men died after being shot Thursday evening. Detectives are asking for the public’s help to provide information about the murders.

At about 7:20 pm, Modesto Police were called to the area of Alturas Avenue and Western Way to investigate the reports of gunshots being fired. When they arrived they discovered two gunshot victims in the alley behind the 400 block of Alturas Avenue. The victims, believed to be male adults, were transported by ambulance to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The Modesto Police Department utilized the automatic messaging system, known as HipLink, to deliver phone messages to the surrounding homes advising them of the situation and the need for tips about the murders. The message was delivered at about 10:00 pm.

No arrests have been made. Detectives and other police personnel remain at the scene documenting and collecting evidence. The investigation remains in the preliminary stages.

Detectives ask anyone with information about the murders to call the Modesto Police Department or Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward. Tipsters can also text information to Crime Stoppers by sending a text message to 274637. Just type “TIP704” along with your message.
