Media Release
08/13/10
On August 12, 2010 at 6:58pm Orland Park Police responded to a 911 call from a resident in the area of the 8900 block of Golfview Drive. The caller stated he believed his neighbor’s home was being burglarized by three subjects who had just left the home carrying a television monitor. The caller provided police with a detailed description of the three suspects as well as the vehicle they entered and left the area in.

Officers arrived on the scene and determined that forced entry had been made into the home. The suspect vehicle and occupant description was dispatched to responding police units. Approximately 4 minutes later two plain clothes officers spotted the suspect vehicle in traffic at 143rd and Southwest Highway. The officers stopped the vehicle and took three suspects into custody. The suspects were positively identified at the scene of the stop by the witness. Proceeds from the burglary were recovered from inside the suspect vehicle as well from a second location near the burglary scene.

Detectives later learned the suspects had targeted this home because they were acquaintances of a resident in that home and had knowledge of property inside the home.

Orland Park Police credit the neighbor with being alert to this suspicious activity in the neighborhood and contacting police without delay. This ultimately led the swift apprehension of these suspected burglars.
