Two Suspects arrested in Texas for Murder of Rosemead Couple

Temple Sheriff's Station deputies responded to a report of a person down at a residence in the 4200 block of Arica Avenue, Rosemead, at 7:49PM on August 9, 2010.

Upon the arrival of deputies, they discovered a couple who had both sustained multiple stab wounds to their upper torso. They were found lying in their bed in the rear bedroom, and both were pronounced dead at the scene. The married couple was identified as Jack Dell Bezner (70 year old White male) and Susan Diane Bezner (64 year old White female).

The person requesting deputies to respond to the home was the adult son of the couple. He also resides at the same home.

During their investigation, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau detectives found there was no apparent forced entry into the home, and the victim’s vehicle and keys were missing. Their missing Nissan Murano was entered into the Stolen Vehicle System as a felony, armed and dangerous, wanted vehicle.

A crime scene investigation and follow-up led to the identification of murder Suspect Rodolfo Lopez (21-year old Hispanic male), who is the boyfriend of the14 year old White female subject. The female juvenile subject is the granddaughter of the victims.

Sheriff's Homicide detectives believed the suspect and subject were en-route to Texas in the victim’s stolen car, and alerted Texas law enforcement authorities. On August 11, 2010, Suspect Rodolfo Lopez and the female juvenile were arrested while driving the stolen Nissan in Horizon City, El Paso County, Texas. S/Lopez is being held on two counts of homicide and auto theft, and the female juvenile is being held on auto theft charges.

"We are saddened at the tragic loss of these two community members. Yet we know that the residents of the Rosemead area can rest a little easier tonight knowing that the suspects are in custody," said Sheriff's Homicide Bureau Lieutenant Mike Rosson.
