ARREST

Around 1900 October 14 officers responded to a theft in progress at the First St residence of JUSTIN EARL WILKENS. WILKENS advised he saw a male remove his lawn mower from under his residence and place it in the back of his pickup truck. He confronted the suspect and a fight ensued. WILKENS’ brother called 911 from inside. WILKENS said the suspect got the best of him and got in his truck to leave. As he tried to leave, the wheels began to spin in the wet dirt and grass. During this time WILKENS was able to remove the mower from the truck. The suspect was able to get traction to the wheels and leave. He was last seen east bound on Broad St. A description of the vehicle and suspect was given to officers. A short time later another officer saw the vehicle on Nellie B Ave and stopped it. The driver taken into custody and returned to the scene where he was identified as the offender. LORENZO STEPHENSON, 48, E Carver Dr, was arrested and charged with Burglary and Battery. (10-1025)

The vehicle in question was a green Dodge Pick-Up truck.
