The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Patrolling the
Silver Comet Trail using…… the Internet???

(Paulding County, GA) The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office continues to take aggressive and proactive steps in patrolling and maintaining the safety and security of the Silver Comet Trail so that the citizens and visitors of Paulding County can experience the beauty and peacefulness of nature without the threat of violence or being exposed to obscene acts. The deputies in Paulding County have added a new vehicle to their fleet of ATVs used to patrol the Silver Comet Trail….the Internet!

Deputies were not completely shocked when they came across an online ad from an individual that was looking to engage in sexual activity along the Silver Comet Trail. However, this was the first time that they had learned of this type of activity taking place in that area. The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office immediately opened an investigation in to the source of the ad and the seriousness of the request. Undercover deputies responded to the ad and almost immediately received a response from the “original poster.”

Last night at around 9:00 p.m., the suspect met with the undercover deputy along the Silver Comet Trail as planned in their previous conversations. Kim Coker (51 year old white male) was taken into custody as a result of the investigation. Coker has been charged with Solicitation of Sodomy and Loiter/Prowling. He is currently being held at the Paulding County Detention Center without bond. He has had his first appearance.

“The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to finding new ways to detect crime and aggressively pursue those who threaten the safety of our citizens,” said Paulding County Sheriff Gary Gulledge.
