Norwalk Sheriff's Detective advise of catalytic converter thefts from vehicles in the area.
Norwalk Sheriff's Detectives advise there have been (6) catalytic converter thefts from vehicles between 9/22 and 9/26. Nine (9) of these incidents have occurred in the city of Norwalk and five (5) have occurred in unincorporated Whittier area, There have been (16) total catalytic converter thefts since January 1, 2009. Catalytic converters are frequently stolen from Toyota trucks and SUVs ie. Toyota 4Runner (8) and Toyota Tacoma (3). Catalytic converters are easily removed from the vehicle with the use of a sawzal (pictured on right). Catalytic converters are being stolen most frequently Wednesday through Friday between 1600 and 2359 hours.
If possible, park your vehicle inside your garage or in a well lighted area. If you have an alarm system, make sure that it is activated.
