On July 7, 2010 the Ventura County Sheriff's Department Aviation Unit assisted in the rescue of an 11 year old Michigan girl who had become stranded on a hillside overlooking the Pacific Ocean. A Ventura County Firefighter was hoisted down from a hovering helicopter and coordinated the rope decent of the young girl and a California Parks Ranger to awaiting emergency personnel.
