On July 3, 2010, a North Hollywood citizen drove to her bank at Victory and Laurel Canyon. After going inside and completing her transaction, she returned to her vehicle. As she drove away, she immediately felt something wrong with her vehicle. When she pulled over to check on the vehicle, she discovered her right rear tire was flat. Another motorist stopped and assisted her in changing the tire. During this time an unknown person entered the vehicle and stole the victim’s purse which contained the money the victim obtained at the bank. The victim was distracted when the theft occurred and did not observe the suspect.

It appears that someone flattened the victim's tire while she was in the bank. They then took advantage of the victim being distracted and stole her purse, which had been left in the vehicle.

This distraction type theft has occurred before in the North Hollywood Area. Please be aware if this type of situation occurs to you. Be very aware of your surroundings, keep your property in your possession, and be wary of persons offering assistance.
