Brush fire on hillside behind 1700 block Crystal Peak Cir./Skyline Dr., Walnut CA 100% Contained. No homes burned.

Per Lt. Mike Browne, Walnut Sheriff’s Station, at about 5:29PM, a brush fire broke out behind the 1700 block of Crystal Peak Circle, City of Walnut.

The block is a cul-da-sac near the cross street of Skyline Dr.

24 homes in the immediate area were evacuated by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies and firefighters.

Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Frederic Stowers reported from the command post that firefighters engaged in an aggressive offensive to attack the fire, and controlled at just under five acres. Los Angeles County and West Covina firefighters including ground crews, engine companies and water-dropping helicopters battled the brush fire.

One West Covina Fire Department firefighter suffered minor injuries. No citizens were injured.

No homes were burned. Knockdown of the fire was declared at 6:45PM.

A unified command post was established in the area by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Los Angeles County Fire Department and West Covina Fire Department.

Sheriff’s Department deputies from Walnut/Diamond Bar Station, Industry Station, Pico Rivera Station, and San Dimas Station assisted.
