Officers respond to a 911 hang up from the closed Don Edwards Wildlife Preserve. On arrival, officers hear a female voice screaming for help followed by what sounded like a single gunshot. Additional resources brought in and an extensive search of the area is conducted. Sgt. Codey locates a party being thrown by female who was most likely the cause of the call and the scream.


Officers are detailed to a family disturbance in the 4800 blk of Ridgewood. Adult son is fighting with sister and mother. As officers are enroute, the caller advises that the son now has a large knife and is threatening to kill himself. Family members lock themselves in upstairs bedroom. Son then breaks into room with knife and brandishes it at family members before stealing his sister’s car. He is gone prior to police arrival, but returns and is promptly arrested by Ofc. Edwards. Although the family does not want any prosecution, the son is arrested for numerous felonies and DUI.
