Wildlife experts warn: do not feed non-domesticated animals. It can later lead to unwanted or dangerous behavior.

Nature is wonderful, and the sight of wild animals can be one of the thrilling aspects of suburban life. Many people believe that feeding animals -- ducks, swans, geese, deer, even coyotes -- helps the animals. It does not. Wildlife authorities tell us that it is not necessary for the animals' well-being, and in fact, by attracting them to easy sources of food and reducing their natural fear of human contact, it can eventually lead to the kind of unwanted, aggressive, or dangerous contact we have experienced by coyotes. Please do not feed non-domesticated animals -- and please do not leave pet food, trash, or other sources of food available outdoors where animals, especially coyotes, can access them. It is bad for the animals, and bad for all of us.
