Saginaw Township Police Department Reminders for a Safe Fourth of July

The Saginaw Township Police Department would like to wish the community a safe and happy Fourth of July Holiday weekend.

We would also like to remind residents to be responsible regarding various holiday activities such alcohol use and fireworks displays.

This weekend, Officers statewide will be working extra Office of Highway and Safety Alcohol Enforcement Patrol's. These officers will be looking for alcohol related driving offenses and additional enforcement related to Minor's being in possession of alcohol. The goal is to help our residents have a safe holiday weekend through the use of high visibility patrols and zero tolerance of alcohol related offenses.

Residents are reminded, don't drink and drive.

This time of year brings numerous calls to central dispatch regarding the display of illegal fireworks. Residents are reminded that ANY type of firework that makes a noise or shoots into the air is illegal in the State of Michigan. A violation of the law can result in enforcement action. Please, be respectful of your neighbors and refrain from illegal firework use to avoid risk of penalty.

The Saginaw Township Police Department asks that residents exercise caution and practice a "safety first" approach regarding use of any fireworks during celebrations. Sparkler's although legal, present a danger of burns and puncture wounds.

Have a safe and happy Fourth of July weekend.
