On Wednesday, June 23, 2010, Detectives from San Dimas Sheriff’s Station, along with the assistance from personnel from SBSO, Rancho Cucamonga Station, arrested three suspects in a string of 25 Armed Robberies which occurred over a two-month period. Between Sunday, April 11 and Wednesday, June 23, 2010, the San Gabriel Valley was plagued with a series of armed robberies perpetrated by two males. They were armed with semi-automatic handguns. Through the investigation, it was determined there was a third suspect involved. At last count there were 25 armed robberies between the cities of El Monte and Fontana. It appears they targeted smaller family owned liquor stores.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Rancho Cucamonga Station personnel identifiedJoseph Ostos as one of the perpetrators. He is on Active Parole. Through the efforts of San Dimas Station Detectives, the remaining suspects were identified and their locations were determined. Through a cooperative effort from Rancho Cucamonga Station personnel all three suspects were taken into custody in the City of Azusa without incident.
Physical evidence linking the suspects to the crimes was gathered during the arrest and two subsequent search warrant operations.
During questioning the two male suspects admitted to committing the robberies and the female admitted to her part in the series of crimes.
All three suspects were arraigned in Pomona Superior Court on Monday, June 28, 2010, on numerous counts of Armed Robbery.
