Advisory

Please be aware of the tropical updates for Hurricane Alex.

The storm, called Alex, is about 140 miles (225 kilometers) east of Belize City and is moving west-northwest at 8 mph, according to a U.S. National Hurricane Center advisory issued at 11 a.m. New York time. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 mph, more than the 39 mph threshold needed to be classified a tropical storm. Of the twelve models use to predict the path of the storm, none have shown it to impact the Houston / Galveston area. This is subject to change as the storm enters the warm waters of the Gulf. Prepare yourself and your belongings for the unpredictability of this and any other storm ahead of time. If you have any special needs, such as medical or handicap issues please notify the Montgomery Police Dept. several days prior to a storm so we will have time to prepare also.
Thank You,
Chief Hudgens
